Ya’ll…this book right here…is sooo good you will not want to put it down!!! I mean like… REALLY REALLY good! It’s fast paced, suspenseful…full of action. Everything about this book excited me! The writing is superb. So real…at times I felt like I was moving in the shadows of the rookeries myself. The cast of characters are marvelous. The intrigue. The angst. The sex. The plot is not your typical HR plot…it’s just fan-freaking-tastic! I’ve always loved KJ’s style…and I must say…this is definitely some of her best writing yet!
Declan Rudderton rules the underworld with a brutal, but compassionate hand. Unbeknownst to him however is the danger that he is constantly in. Episodes of violence has been happening around him with an increasing frequency. Barely coming out unscathed, he soon discovers that a woman, he’s trusted for the past two years is not what or who he thought her to be.
Verity Jones is not at all what she seems. Masquerading as a mute maid in one of Declan’s clubs, her job for the past two years has been to keep him safe. Unfortunately, her cover is blown when Declan fortuitously discovers that not only can she speak…she can read and write too. As Declan works to uncover the secrets that Verity afraid to speak, the two of them work together to discover who is attempting to kill him…and more importantly…why.
I’ve not put this book down today for more than two hours…I can’t gush enough about it enough. Verity’s character kicks ass and Declan…I’ve fallen in love…AGAIN. I know..I know…I fall in love at least four times a week…but this time, the love is really real. I don’t even know how I came across the book or why…I’m just thankful I did. It’s like the book fairy knew I needed something special to make my soul happy. KJ Jackson is a talented writer. I highly recommend that you check out this book…as well as others in her stable. You will not be disappointed.
