Love is not blind, but it might mimic a deteriorating case of cataracts.
Jumping Jehoshaphat Batman!!! This book is simply AMAZEBALLS!!! I loved EVERY. SINGLE. THING about this damn book. Just WOW! It’s clever. Fun. Talk about one hell of a cat and mouse game.
I ran across a post about this book in another group and decided to give it try. I was NOT disappointed at all. As a matter of fact, I’m re-reading it for the second time in two days. Yup. I read the whole book yesterday and I’m starting it again!
The characters are f’ing spectacular. I’m not sure if they jump of the page or if I’m pulled into the story….all I know, it’s almost as if I’m there….with a tray of cookies and a cup of tea watching it first hand and in person. Their dialogue is fire! Their chemistry…explosive. Although there is steam…it’s not as hot as you’d expect it to be. The scenes where they are actually intimate felt…chaste. I expected more. Especially with all the spicy innuendo. At one point I was more eager for the sex than the characters. I just knew it was gonna be “on and popping”… and felt a tad let down. I needed the rah rah sis boom bah…and all I got was the bah. That aside…this book is …**sigh**
Louisa Cantwell is living in genteel poverty. She’s decided to wed to help support her sisters so sets off to London to find a wealthy husband. Not in her prime, Louisa is surprisingly a success …but why shouldn’t she be? She’s strong, independent, witty and more than a little bit pretty.
Felix Rivendale, the Marquess of Wrenworth is known as the “Ideal Gentleman”. Outwardly he is perfect. Any woman would be lucky to have him. Men attempt to immolate him…he’s simply…wonderful. But in Felix’s case…what you see is NOT what you get. Underneath his shiny persona there’s something dark and damaged about Felix.
Inexplicably drawn to Louisa, Felix constantly toys with her and finds himself snared in one of his very own traps. Louisa rightfully mistrusts the man and does everything she can to find a man to marry. And when Felix is the only one to offer marriage at the end of the season…she accepts…setting them off on path that can lead to only one place in the end.
Look here folks…I think I want me a Felix…without his extra baggage…but If I had to endure a little darkness…and some temporary heartache to get to the HEA with him…I would. Hurt me baby…HURT ME!!! I just love…love…love him. Give me a bad boy any day…yes indeed! I’ve not read this author….but just as soon as I finish this re-read, I’m moving on to the next book in the series.
