“I have realized over the course of my life that we cannot control what other people do; rather we can only control our own reactions to them…Easier said than done, I know. I am still learning this lesson”.

Wow…just damn wow!!! I’ve not been this emotional reading a book in months. In the span of let’s say 12 hours, I’ve laughed…cried…ugly cried in fact…and then joyously sighed…

Some Dukes Have All the Luck positively sparkles. The story at first is a bit…far-fetched in that you’d not believe a person could be so impulsively driven…but…once you easily move past that, your find yourself whisked away into an emotional roller coaster that’s one helluva heart-warming, teary-eyed, snot dripping ride. When I finished reading this book, after having stayed up all night (with the flu I might add) to finish it, I wanted to stand up in the middle of my bed and scream BRAVO…ENCORE…(and I don’t think it was the copious amounts of RX cough syrup I had drank either).

The narrative was simple yet written in such a way that the characters themselves took hold of you and pulled you into the story. They were so vivid and full of life and energy that at times it felt as if their joys were my joys, their triumphs were my triumphs…and there pain I felt utterly and completely. The book is romantic and charming and heartwarming and angsty. And for the lovers of steam…there’s a bit of that too (although not as spicy as I would have liked – evil smile).

Ash Hawkins, Duke of Buckley has a problem. Three young defiant problems in fact and he needs a woman’s touch to help him rear them in. With governess after governess quitting one after the other, Ash decides the only thing for him to do is find someone who can’t quit…and that means finding a wife…one with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Bronwyn is odd…and that’s putting it mildly. She’s awkward and shy and a bit of a bluestocking. With parents who are fed up with this disgusting obsession with insects, Bronwyn must leave her “profession” behind and focus on finding a suitable match.

Although this was the first book of Christina Britton’s that I’ve read, it most certainly will not be my last. Some Dukes Have All the Luck has everything I seek in good book and I can’t wait to see what’s next in this series!
